PricePeep is an adware program that displays coupons, ads, and sponsored links in a pop-up box when you browse shopping sites like eBay, Amazon, etc.
Also, when you search on sites like Facebook, Best Buy, or Expedia, the PricePeep pop-up box will display keyword suggestions (which display ads when clicked), as well as sponsored ads and links.
There are two ways that PricePeep can get into your computer. First of all, you can go to getpricepeep website, get seduced by the spiel and willingly download it.
Second, it can occur together with other software when you download and install freeware such as 1ClickDownload, Yontoo and FBPhotoZoom, and other programs.
What does PricePeep do?
The program is installed as an extension for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. Once installed, when you visit a shopping or search site, PricePeep automatically searches thousands of online stores to find the most up-to-date prices and information.
The publishers claim that it is the ‘perfect shopping companion for you’ and saves you time and money online. In fact, the program can save you time and money, at the cost of a ton of irritation, by offering you a great deal. But it could also be doing a lot more in the background.
PricePeep is likely to significantly slow down your computer operations. But the real danger of this program is in the ads.
The ads are third party ads and it is impossible to know if the ads, designed to take you to malicious sites, are being delivered by Internet criminals.
Another problem with PricePeep is cookies. According to PricePeep’s privacy policy, and in their own words:
When you visit a web store by clicking on a link provided by PricePeep, you may be redirected through an affiliate network’s site to the merchant’s website, at which point a third-party cookie may be placed on your browser.
These third party cookies are high risk. They could be used to track your online activity, collect usernames and passwords, and to make sharing this data much easier.
Therefore, it is imperative that you get rid of PricePeep.
PricePeep Removal
Getting rid of the program is quite easy as PricePeep appears in your program files. However, the exact steps vary slightly depending on the Windows operating system you are using.
In Windows Xpclick on beginning and then click Control Panel. Click on Add or remove programs and search for the PricePeep program. Select it and click Remove.
In Windows Vista Y windows 7click on beginning and then click Control Panel. Click on Uninstall a program and search for the PricePeep program. Right click on it and then click uninstall.
In windows 8, right-click on the Metro UI home screen. Click on All applications. Then click Control Panel. Click on Uninstall a program and search for PricePeep. Right click on it and then click uninstall.
Once you have removed PricePeep, you need to remove residual damage from your browser.
Removal of PricePeep extensions
Browser extension removal varies depending on the browser you are using.
For internet exploreropen the browser and click the gear icon (or click Instruments if you are using Windows XP). Select Manage add-ons. From the Toolbars and extensions tab, select the peep priceplugin and click To disable.
For MozillaFirefoxopen the browser and then click the open menu button at the top right. Click on the Accessories icon in the drop-down menu that appears. Select Extensions. Remove PricePeep extension by clicking the withdraw button next to it.
For Google Chromeclick on the chrome menu in the browser toolbar, select Instruments and then click Extensions. In the Extensions tab, delete the PricePeep extension by clicking the Recycle Bin next to the plugin.
Once you’ve removed the extensions, you need to clean your computer’s registry.
Removing PricePeep registry keys
There are two ways to remove PricePeep related registry keys.
The first is to install a popular registry cleaner, such as the free-to-download jv16 Power Tools, and use it to get rid of all registry keys that are safe to delete. Just follow the simple instructions.
The second way is to manually delete unwanted registry keys. The unwanted keys are:

To remove them, go to beginning and choose Run… . In the Run Command dialog box that opens, type regedit.exe and click okay. The registry editor will open. You can now find and remove the offending registry entries.
The first option is obviously the easiest.
Scan for malware
Once you’ve cleaned your registry, the only thing left to do is scan your computer just in case to make sure no malware has been infiltrated with PricePeep.
Use the scanning features provided by your antivirus software or download the latest version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
