Dancing With the Stars – Truly Exceptional Costumes

I love to dance with the stars. It’s not your typical reality show in the sense that it’s not just anybody from the street trying to sing or maybe a collection of very carefully selected reality show contestants eating rats on a desert island somewhere. Dancing with the Stars is a collection of about a dozen celebrities (or near-celebrities) who need a bit of a popularity boost or just have time for the ten-week indulgence to compete on the show. While celebrity drama is always interesting, it’s the costumes that really bring me back week after week.

The basics of dancing with the stars

In Dancing with the Stars, the dozen or so celebrities are supposed to have no experience with ballroom and Latino dancing. Unfortunately, this season the winner turned out to be someone who makes a living dancing hip-hop, so there’s a bit of fake feeling at the end, but that’s neither here nor there now. In the episodes, the grueling weeks of dance practice are showcased with each celebrity paired with a professional dancer. There are always some interesting images. Then the two of you dance to their assigned dance or two if it’s later in the season. After each dance, the judge gives scores to the contestants and the spectators can request their votes. The results show is the following night when a couple is eliminated for the week and the dancers return to the ballroom to prepare for the next round of dancing.

Dancing with the Stars costumes

In Dancing with the Stars, there are some really lovely costumes. Professional dancers usually wear the most daring, one in particular. Edyta’s costumes are often quite scarce and can be considered lingerie or a bathing suit rather than a costume, but if someone can pull it off, she can. However, Edyta is not the only one in Dancing with the Stars who wears the tiny costumes. Most professional dancers end up with a super short skirt and a lot of cleavage at some point. Even the dancers take their shirts off more than once during the season during a particularly hot dance move. The end result is a lot of skin, but for some reason it works.

The other costumes in Dancing with the Stars are the long dresses. These days you rarely see ball gowns outside of red carpet events, but at Dancing with the Stars, you can see them every week. These beautiful dresses are often parted for dance moves, but flow and form around the dancers’ ankles or feet. I have even seen some of the dancers tangle in their long, flowing dresses. Regardless, the beautiful dresses float around them as they dance, making onlookers, myself included, want to start dancing just so we can wear such a gorgeous dress too.

Even if we will never hit the dance floor with these celebrities, there is still a lot to see on the shows. Between celebrity dances, entertainers, and special performances, there are nights filled with entertainment and beautiful dresses; you can’t go wrong.
