In the 1800s, there is a seaside town that a pirate named Jack decides to visit. He arrives just as his ship is sinking. He decides that he needs to steal a different ship. At the same time there is a celebration. A leader in the military has worked his way up the ranks. A woman named Elizabeth whom he has known for most of her life attends the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, she proposes to him. Already out of breath on the hot day, she passes out and falls into the ocean. The pirate sees this and swims to save her. They land him with the entire army and immediately recognize him as a pirate. While running, Jack meets a blacksmith named Will Turner, who was found floating in the ocean at a very young age. The two duel and Jack the pirate is caught.

Later that night, Jack’s former crew arrive in the same town to loot aboard the Black Pearl. They kidnap Elizabeth and leave as fast as they came. Will wakes up the next morning with a terrible headache in the middle of the street. The last thing he saw was Elizabeth being led away. He must save her. The only way to find out where the pirates have gone is to talk to the pirate in jail. The two make a deal. Jack is released so that he can show Will where Elizabeth may have been taken.

To do this, they must first get a ship. They walk underwater with a boat to breathe, then they steal a ship. Another ship in port is alerted and soon captures the stolen ship. As everyone searches the ship, Will and Jack sneak aboard the faster ship and continue on their way.

After some time at sea, Will learns that his father was a very famous pirate. This is very hard for Will to accept since he hates pirates. They stop the ship in Tortugas to pick up a crew since such a large ship cannot be navigated by just two people.

Elizabeth soon discovers that she was kidnapped because she had a cursed piece of gold. She found it around Will’s neck when he was pulled out of the sea. She took it in fear that it was evidence that he was a pirate. Since he was so young, she couldn’t allow the fate of a pirate to come to him. She soon learns that many years ago pirates found a secret treasure trove full of cursed gold. What they didn’t know at the time was that it would make them super human. They didn’t need to eat or drink and when they were in the moonlight, they turned into walking skeletons. The pirates need to return all the gold and pay some blood to become human again.
