How to house/potty train your dog part 2 – Paper training

Having a dog is a wonderful thing. They are absolutely the closest animal to man. But they can get annoying when they start messing up the whole place. In this article, I will share with you how to potty train or house train your dog using the paper training method.

Paper training can be used as a temporary training method for bad weather. The fact is that medium and large dogs urinate quite often, so the paper is absorbed quite quickly. The urine will also make the papers too heavy and wet to fold and throw away.

You’ll need to identify a convenient spot like your home’s bathroom, basement, or utility room primarily for the dog-papering area (where he does his thing!). You should definitely avoid choosing an area with a wooden floor.

You can follow this simple process. Start by papering a large area and gradually reduce the space as your dog gets used to it. Strive to use appropriate potty times and around the house, but be sure to use paper as his potty spot and be sure to take him there every couple of hours. You should also try to compensate the dog if he urinates there voluntarily.

Here are some tips to keep in mind. Avoid potty training your dog indoors and outdoors at the same time! Do not feed or play with your dog near his potty. Be consistent and patient with your dog, keep in mind that house/indoor potty training takes longer than outdoor. However, it should be noted that not all dogs can be paper trained. Only very small breed (toy) dogs or puppies that are less than six months old can be paper trained!
