Clickgear 2.0 Golf Cart Review

Golf Cart Reviews: Clicgear 2.0

GENERAL RATING

SCORE: 91

GRADE A-

We definitely liked the sporty look of the Clicgear 2.0 and its solid, stable feel on the course. And we highly recommend you spend the $10 to get the nifty shoe shine brush! Less appealing is the fact that when folded, it’s not exactly small, which could be a problem if storage space is at a premium in your vehicle.

Retail Price: $199

SIZE/WEIGHT

SCORE: 84

GRADE B

The Clicgear 2.0 weighs 18.5 pounds. (as tested), making it one of the heaviest push carts we’ve tested (compare to the lightest cart, the Sun Mountain Micro Cart, at 13.5 lbs.). It also folds up into a bit of an unwieldy block. What does that mean? It means you’re probably putting it in the back seat, because it’s hard to put in the trunk if you already have a set of clubs in there (assuming you have the usual amount of sundries in the trunk). What is that you say? Do you have a two-seater? And your wife is coming too? ruh roh…

EASE OF CONFIGURATION

SCORE: 85

GRADE B

Deploying Clicgear 2.0 isn’t the most intuitive process, which is why they include an instructional DVD for you. Clicgear tries to make the 5-step process easier by making critical knobs and levers bright red, but unless you have a PhD in origami, you might find yourself scratching your head a little every time you have to fold or unfold it. .

IMPRESSIONS IN THE COURSE

SCORE: 90

GRADE A-

  • We liked riding the Clicgear 2.0 in the backcountry—it felt sturdy and stable, and the tires seemed like they could handle any type of terrain.
  • We were less impressed with the brake mechanism: You have to pull and turn the brake handle to engage or disengage the brake. Of course, one could argue that this design helps ensure the brake doesn’t accidentally disengage, but since we never experienced that issue on any of the carts we tested, it seems like a bit of a stretch.
  • The brake is also different from what we usually see on push carts: Instead of a friction-based bike brake, the Cligear 2.0 has notches around the front wheel, and the brake is a block that slots into the front wheels. notches to prevent the wheel from rolling. . What this means is that sometimes you have to roll the cart a few inches forward or backward to get the block to slide into the proper notch and engage the brake. It’s not the end of the world, but after you’ve just polished off a ball in the pond, it’s certainly not something that makes you happy.
  • The tires are made of solid foam, so there is no danger of getting a flat.
  • The handle can be adjusted within a range of approximately 45 degrees, providing flexibility for users of different heights.

STORAGE/ACCESSORIES

SCORE: 89

GRADE: B+

Storage and accessories available in Clicgear 2.0 include:

  • a valuables tray with a magnetic lid, which was a bit shallower than found on some of the competing products. We couldn’t get the lid to click shut (no matter how many times we rearranged the contents) when we tried to fill the box with 2 golf balls, a GPS device, an iPhone, a set of keys, and a wallet. Please note that the storage box has a ridge that is designed to hold 3 golf balls (there are no other doohickeys on the Clicgear 2.0 to hold golf balls)
  • an elastic band attached to the lid of the valuables tray that is designed to hold a scorecard; in fact, we found it quite useful for securing an iPhone running a golf GPS app
  • another elastic band attached to the lid of the valuables tray that is designed to hold a pencil, which we found a little clumsy as the elastic was too tight to easily access or store the pencil
  • 3 holes to store tees
  • towel hooks
  • an umbrella mount that holds an umbrella upright to provide you with shelter when it rains
  • 2 straps to hold a folded umbrella when not in use (similar to those found on most golf carry bags today)
  • a cup/bottle holder

We also tried the optional shoe brush that clips to the cart frame (available for an additional $9.99); it was AWESOME at getting rid of the gunk that collects between the nails, and we highly recommend it. It can occasionally come loose if you’re too aggressive when scrubbing, but it’s usually extremely helpful.

STYLE

SCORE: 94

GRADE A

There’s no doubt about it, the Clicgear 2.0 is the best looking push cart on the market. The wheel profile and two-tone color scheme create an aggressive look reminiscent of the brightly colored brake calipers seen through the wheels of a Ferrari or Maserati. The Clicgear 2.0 is available in black, blue, orange, red, silver, and yellow. Regardless of the color you select, the color of the wheel trims, knobs and handles is always red.

WORTH

SCORE: 91

GRADE A-

With an RRP of $199.99, the Clicgear 2.0 was tied with two other cars for low-price honors among the units we tested (we were only testing high-end cars, of course). Also keep in mind that the introduction of the new Clicgear 3.0 means you should be able to pick up the Clicgear 2.0 at a clearance price, so check out different retailers.
