Skinning is one of the fastest and easiest professions to level. The first step in leveling up this profession is finding the skinning trainer. A skinning trainer can be found in any of the capitals of Azeroth and also in some of the major cities on the world map.
With this profession you can collect leather, skin and scales by skinning the mobs that you come across. However, you cannot skin all types of monsters and the best suitable monster types to skin are beasts. Note that all beasts, such as birds, cannot be skinned either.
How to skin a certain mob?
When you grind mobs for skinning, the first thing to do is grab the loot. After looting a mob, you will see a skinning pointer when you hover over the mob with your mouse pointer. If the level of a mob is right for you, your skinning ability will increase. As with leveling, lower level mobs will not improve your skill, while higher level mobs will.
Skinning equipment
Skinning does not require any particular equipment. However, every skinner needs a skinner knife. Any general goods dealer has this knife for sale, as well as any trade related to the profession that can be found near the skinning trainer.
There are also special skinning knives that have a bonus to give you for your skill. These knives are Finkle’s Skinner (Upper Blackrock Spire) and Zulian Slicer (Zul’Gurub).
There is also a lovely formula available: Enchant Gloves: Skinning formula that will give +5 to your skinning ability and another that will give +10.
Combination of fur and skinning
Leatherworking is one of the main professions that requires many skinning products such as scales and hides to progress. Without Skinning products, leatherwork will be completely impossible to improve. You can buy leather in the AH or combine your Leatherworking profession with Skinning.
Leather products are not just a necessity for the furrier profession. Leather is also used in blacksmithing, engineering, and tailoring.
Can I take advantage of Skinning?
Leather is easy to grow and therefore we can conclude that skinning is profitable. The suitable monsters for skinning can be found everywhere and even if you are only skinning lower tier monsters, you can still sell them very well at the Auction House. For higher level players, it is also quite easy to polish leather of all levels.
Classes suitable for skinning
When it comes to the choice of professions, each player must choose the professions that seem interesting to him, although in general, skinners and furriers are usually found in classes that can use leather, such as rogues or druids. There are also many hunters with this combination of professions simply because they are quick to do so.
What is Master of Anatomy?
In The Wrath of the Lich King, skinners received a new ability: Master of Anatomy. This is a very useful skill that will increase along with your skinning skill level and give you a nice bonus on critical strike rating. Anatomy Master’s max skill is +40 on critical when you have your Skinning profession at max (450).
