Why are Nepali models not popular on the internet?

Nepal has seen some fabulous beauties in recent years. With the increasing number of beauty pageants, growing TV channels and the Internet, people are now more aware of Nepalese models than in the past. Models like Namrata Shrestha, Zenisha Moktan are so popular that tons of internet searches are directed to them every month. However, there are only a handful of pages on the Internet about them. And that certainly doesn’t help increase its popularity!

While models from other parts of the world have thousands of pages dedicated to them on the internet, it’s a shame Nepalese models are falling behind, even popular models have no internet presence except on some news sites. We don’t need to go far. Indian and Chinese female models have conquered the world. It may be with their large population, it is not a big deal for them to have tons of pages on the internet about their models, but there are some peculiar reasons behind Nepali models lagging behind on the internet:

1) As stated above, the small Nepalese population is the main cause. And of that small population, only a handful use the Internet. Of that handful, only a small part write about Nepali models or create new internet pages about them, therefore there are fewer internet pages.

2) The attitude of Nepalese online users towards our female models is wrong. Most of the comments made on Nepali female model pages are offensive. If you can’t respect your countrymen, no one else will!

3) Laziness of the models to promote themselves. Models must also take initiatives to promote themselves. Facebook is a popular medium to do so. Adding images and messaging fans would keep the ball rolling.

4) The backward society that considers the slightest skin-showing a sin. It is a fact that modeling cannot be done without showing skin and this fact must be understood.

Having said all this, the future for Nepali girls who are into internet modeling should not be dark. More and more bloggers are writing about Nepali girls these days. More groups are being created on Facebook dedicated to our models. These are obviously positive signs. However, it takes a collective effort from everyone to make our female models more popular on the Internet. The 4 issues noted above need to be resolved if we want to see our Nepalese girls compete in the world arena.
