Trend change in management education

The whole society and human life have changed considerably since a few years. Information technology has accelerated the pace of development and we have developed hundreds of times more in the last few years than in hundreds of years before. Everything has changed tremendously, including morals, ethics and meaning. The same goes for educational patterns and traditions. This is what is most missing from management education in India and what needs to be done to develop successful global entrepreneurs.

Previous students were forced to focus and accumulate what was written in academic books and were forced to take an exam only on that knowledge. Anything about observations, skills, and personal knowledge was outside of the syllabus and not worth considering for ranks. The system was certainly flawed and deterred children’s natural development and messed up their ideation skills. consequently, people lived within a limited scope and did not have access to things, opinions, knowledge and realities beyond their orbit.

With the advent of information technology, and more importantly, the Internet has changed the entire landscape and redefined meanings and standards. Today, students are encouraged to realize their own potential to achieve success in the field in which they feel inclined. The world is open to you and only the sky is the limit. The results are obvious, even the young students are doing wonders in the world.

The same change has been introduced at the professional level of education, such as management studies. Students receive internships and hands-on exposure to the situation, but only on a limited basis. Therefore, they are still unable to emerge with full confidence even after completing their degree and diploma programs. In fact, things should have been the other way around.

These professional courses should be more about real-life industry exhibitions and less about literature. The reason is the speed at which the world is changing. Teaching from books written years before would not be inducing a practical approach and realistic behavior in students. They must be aware of current business scenarios with direct exposure to industry affairs.

There are some institutes that have identified this shortcoming of existing management courses and in order to make their students more competitive in the global environment, they have introduced Academy Industrial Interface in their curriculum, in which the institute involves to the industry in the educational process of its students. They invite representatives from leading industries and share their real-life experiences and the current and emerging requirements of new-age employees and professionals. The institute provides extended opportunities to its students to work in trainee organizations for a longer period than usual. The concept has clicked and more and more of his students are achieving success both at work and in business.

The article suggests all aspiring management careers to choose such a college/university that offers Academic Industry Interface in its curriculum for better future prospects.
