Runescape Fletching Guide

1. Introduction to Fletching

Fletching is one of the most respected skills in Runescape due to its quick XP gain, makes a lot of money, and can make you rich with the right skills. So, do you want to know what fletching is? Well Fletching is a skill that allows you to create your own long-range weapons, including bolts, arrows, bows, and special darts. And all you need is an ax (to chop down trees) and a knife for your basic equipment.

2. Skills needed to do more in this skill

The skills you will most want to have, as they will make fletching easier for you, are felling trees (for wood), blacksmithing (for arrowheads, etc.), mining (for minerals at changing bars), combat (to get the feathers from the chickens!), and magic (to raise the bows for $$).

3. Make arrows

First you will have to start making arrows. (When you cut a log, you will get 15 arrow shafts per log.)

Get your lumberjack ax to chop down a normal tree

After that take out your knife and use the knife on the trunk and you will get a menu and collect the arrow shafts.
Then get feathers from the chickens, kill them, take their feathers and use the axes on the feathers or vice versa.
Go get your pickaxe and mine tin and copper ores (if this is your first time) and turn them into bars and forge arrowheads (requires 5 blacksmiths).
Finally use the arrow tips on the headless arrows and you got your arrows!
Here is a table of all the other arrows and what levels of blacksmithing you need to forge the arrowheads.

4. Make bows

Well, when you finally reach level 5, you can start making bows! Making bows is one of the simplest things to do and your XP increases quickly by doing this. This is how most people make most of their money and get millions of gp! So here below is how to make bows.

At level 5, start by getting a full inventory of normal logs
Then get your knife off the bench and cut all the logs into short arcs without skewering.
Go to Seers Village and collect flax and then go to a spinning wheel and spin the flax (level 5 crafting required) to make a bowstring
Use the bowstring with the bow and to make a short strung bow.

5.Manufacture of special bolts

Do you think that only feathering is for making arrows and bows? Incorrect!!! You can also make special bolts that are more powerful than normal bolts. You can make 3 different studs: opal tipped, pearl tipped, and barbed tipped. Below are 3 small guides on how to make them.

Note: You can only get normal bolts from the archery shops in Varrock and Catherby, as well as from monster drops. They also reappear in some cordons in the desert.

Opal Tipped Studs:

Go to Shilo Village and mine some of the gemstones there. You will need to have finished the Shilo Village Quest to enter.
Chisel the opals to cut and once again to make opal points. You get 2 tips per gem.
Use the opal tips with some regular studs and you get opal tipped studs.

Pearl Tipped Studs:

Go catch some oysters (it’s hard to get some that have a pearl on them, but keep trying).
When you have an oyster with a pearl, use a chisel and you will get a pearl. Go back to using the chisel and you’ll get some pearl tips. Each pearl gives 2 points.
Use the pearl tips on a regular stud and you will have some pearl tipped studs.
Spiked Spike Bolts

Go to the ranged guild and shoot the targets until you have 140 tickets.
Go redeemed his tickets for 30 Barb Tips.
Use your spike tips on some normal studs and you’ll get some spike spike studs.

6. Do darts

Darts is the last item you can do in Fletching. People don’t really make darts as they are hard to make but not that hard as all you have to do is get some dart tips and put some feathers on them.

Note: You must have done Tourist Trap Quest to make darts.
