Many states have made it mandatory for nurses to earn continuing education units, or CEUs, as it is called. Each CEU is worth ten hours of study, and they must be earned by participating in an approved course. CPR and advanced lifesaving courses are required of all healthcare professionals, including nurses. Some states also require nurses to take CPR courses. Nursing CEUs Make Nursing Continuing Education Mandatory
