A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to a new Life Plus International distributor who was asking me about running his business online instead of traditional network marketing methods and I asked him, “Why did you suddenly change your mind?” The response was pretty incredible.
First, I researched Life Plus International when looking for network marketing companies and found it to be a highly reputable company with some pretty good products. Obviously, I didn’t join them, but I would never have said a bad word about the company.
Therefore, I believe this story is more of an indication of “old school” network marketing methods than an indictment against Life Plus International in general.
Even if you know very little about network marketing, you know that outdated methods of generating business are dragging people to meetings, calling friends and family, buying expensive leads, etc. So what this guy told me wasn’t totally crazy, but it was still very revealing.
As the story goes, the fledgling Life Plus International distributor I was talking to had a couple of people interested and asked his upline for advice on joining the business opportunity. Seems pretty innocent, right?
Her upline instructed her to bring her prospects to the recruiting meeting the following week. Okay, no surprise yet, but here it comes: not only did your “leaders” tell you to bring them to the meeting, they also told you NOT to tell them the name of the company because then they would know it’s a marketing company. in network and would not come. What?!
Do you have zero respect for other people’s time? So you drag people away from their families, miles from home, to a cheesy banquet hall for something you know they don’t want? That is why most people fail in this industry. Who could sleep at night if that’s what they did for a living?
Again, this is not me criticizing Life Plus International, but rather traditional network marketing methods. There is a better way.
The internet is at our fingertips for us to use to find people who really want what we have to offer, so why not use it? Would you rather use technology to recruit your downline or would you rather trick people into attending meetings?
