Donavan Mcnabb will play against the Bucs

Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles will play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This will be his first action since breaking a rib in the season opener.

The ribs have not fully healed as they are still causing discomfort, and McNabb will wear protective padding to help lessen shock. Laughing, coughing, sneezing, or sleeping on your side still bothers your ribs. Even sitting or standing for long periods of time causes pain. McNabb expects it to be another 2-4 weeks before his ribs are 100% healthy.

McNabb practiced Wednesday and will play the game with running back Michael Westbrook. Westbrook missed the Eagles’ final game with a knee injury.

McNabb will also have Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick as backups. Kolb was the first NFL quarterback to throw for 300-plus yards in his first two starts while McNabb was out, so it looks like if McNabb goes down again, the Eagles will be in good hands.

Michael Vick and the cable channel BET are working on a 2010 documentary about Vick’s imprisonment and his return to the NFL after serving time for animal cruelty. The documentary began when Vick was sent to prison for 18 months for his role in dogfighting.

The Eagles say they don’t have a specific number of plays Michael Vick will run in this week’s game. It looks like Vick is shaking off some of the rust and returning to the athletic form of him that wowed so many opponents and fans years ago. This game will be the first regular season game that McNabb and Vick will play together.
