Are you a Write-A-Holic?

Okay, this is my 31,000th online article, supposedly some kind of silly world record. Of course, that’s not saying much because there’s not much competition to go out and write 31,000 articles; I’m more or less competing against myself these days. A lot of my friends think I’m crazy and my keyboard doesn’t have letters on the keys anymore, and I’m on my version 12 of Dragon Speak voice software.

So how many words are there in 31,000 articles and 188 e-books anyway? Well, I’m not sure, but the latest estimate was 10.5 million words. Yes, I guess my friends are right, I’m crazy, crazy as they say. Interestingly, there has been academic research on prolific writers, and it turns out that writing can be very therapeutic. In fact, if someone has PTSD or some terrible adversity to overcome in their life, writing helps tremendously. Yes, I have also written about that. In fact, I’ve written so much that I’m running out of things to write about.

Well, I guess that’s part of the reason I’m writing this article. You see, I need your help. I need more things to write about and I desperately need more interesting topics. So if you have a passion for something, a worthy cause, or a fascinating insight into anything under the sun or part of human endeavor, please share it with me below in the comments section.

Now, I would like to talk to you about this addiction to writing;

Hi, my name is Lance and I’m a writing addict.

Unfortunately, there is no 13-step program for people like me, but I’m sure I’m not alone. Do you know what’s funny about all this? You see, others complain about “writer’s block” but they’re really the lucky ones, imagine having so much on your mind that you just can’t stop writing, and you never seem to run out of things to write about, scary, truth? Of course.

My only hope of curing my writing addiction is to run out of things to think about, talk about, and write about. But when that happens, what will I do? I can’t imagine at this point, stopping, giving up like Forrest Gump did. Hard to say, what will any of us writing addicts do if we can’t write anymore? I want to say that we will not be allowed to present “fake news”, since it seems that they will soon make a law against it.

However, I suppose in a way we are lucky that there is always something going on somewhere in the world to talk about, something to observe and report, some valuable advice or insight to give.

Maybe we are needed, well, until artificial intelligence takes over and we are no longer needed. Somehow, though, I bet we’re still writing, even if the AI systems can publish millions of times more pages than all of us put together, and until then, let’s give the machines a run for their money.

In closing, to my fellow online article writers and writing junkies, I just want to say: keep up the great work because if there’s one thing I love more than writing, it’s learning new things, and I need you to keep writing so that I I can keep learning.

What are you going to write today? Make it something great, I can’t wait to read it.
