The professions you choose for your druid will have a huge impact on your characters’ gold, gear, and success. For those players who do not take full advantage of the professions in the game, almost without exception, they will have less gold and much more bad equipment than someone who works in their professions. Many times, those who abandon their chosen path are frustrated or overwhelmed with the requirements of their trade. For newer players, this is even more prevalent.
The profession of skinning is a fantastic choice for any druid build in World of Warcraft and especially for wild druids. This trade is fast, super easy to level up, provides a very good income stream, and pairs perfectly with Leatherworking. On top of that, just by leveling up your skinning skill, your wild druid will get a higher percentage of critical hits! Still interested? Okay, let’s take a closer look.
It’s fast: When comparing skinning to other gathering professions, such as mining or herbalism, skinning is much faster. While in the other two you will find yourself running in search of minerals and flowers, the skins will come to you! Your druid is going to be running around animals and beasts of all kinds for her entire life, right? Most animals can be skinned in some way (even fish!), Providing you with materials to sell or use in the fur shop. Instead of running around looking for mobs to attack and looking for minerals or plants, combine the two and save time.
It’s easy – you’re going to be knee deep in dead animals anyway, right? And you’re going to pause to search and loot all those animals anyway, right? With skinning, you just take down a mob, loot it like you normally would, and then, without even moving, skin it in a second or two. Tons of monsters can be skinned, including normal animals, dragons, fish, sheep, and more. In fact, it’s so easy that once you learn the rhythm, your skill will skyrocket before you know it.
Provides Income – This trade will put gold in your pocket in a number of ways. The first and easiest way is to gather a bunch of leather or hide and sell it to other players at the auction house. The leather and furs will be stacked in your bags, so it’s a breeze to collect a lot of each and sell them in bulk. If you also practice Leatherworking, you can create kits and amour pieces to sell for even more money. It is almost too easy.
Critical Bonus for Wild Druids: There is an often overlooked and forgotten bonus that comes with the Skinning profession called Anatomy Master. This is a passive ability only available to Skinners and it comes with five ranks. The higher your skill, the higher your Master of Anatomy critical bonus contribution. Any form of critical percentage increase is a huge benefit, especially when it’s basically free! Seriously consider Skinning as a career choice.
