10 benefits of modeling

Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to look good in designer clothes while walking the runway filled with the gods of the fashion world sitting looking at you up and down and a chance to hang out with the coolest people? Glamorous life aside, models are just like you and me working hard to feed stomachs and pay bills. The difference is, of course, they travel more than we do and don’t sit in squeaky office chairs staring at our computer screens for hours or in the sun fixing and building things. And they can walk on red carpets with tons of flashing lights flashing as we walk on tar roads breathing in carbon monoxide or planting our homeless people in a room breathing in cold air generated by air conditioning. These are just a few of the many benefits of modeling.

Modeling, of course, is not as easy as it sounds, in fact, no occupation is easy. Modeling is a career based on beauty and expression: how one sells ‘looks’, outfits. Not all pretty faces can sell well, sometimes quirky looks outsell the usual pretty faces; The fashion industry never dies but is always growing, we have seen a recent surge of new designers debuting on the runways with stunning pieces, improving the fashion game more than ever. When more designers emerge, new faces also stand out. Of course, there are many reasons why so many new faces are emerging among us today. I’m sure we all know at least 2 or 3 of our friends who were into modeling as a career. So what do they benefit from?

1. Glam, Glam, Glam

Flashing lights, VIP seats and red carpets. You can walk the red carpets, attend VIP events, and hang out with the coolest celebrities. Who doesn’t want that?

2. Big salaries

It is normal for all models to start with small salaries, but as they work more and more and more, their salaries get bigger and bigger.

3. Advertising

Models begin to gain more recognition as they grace magazine covers, appearing on billboards where everyone can see you big and clear or appear in large catalogs of clothing brands like H&M, ZARA, Topshop and more. Or somehow you might end up dating some celebrity, that also gets you tons of publicity. Therefore, whatever you do, the world will be watching.

4. Checking your pending trip list

Models travel the world for fashion shows, events, and photo shoots. One day they are walking in Paris, the next day in New York, the next day filming a swimwear brand in Mauritius or the Philippines.

5. Have your own personal trainer and dietitian

While we pay hundreds for a gym membership and spend a fair amount of money to see a dietitian, models get it for free, yes, free. Not to mention, a dietitian to help control their food intake so they can maintain their slim figure and still stay healthy.

6. Learn new languages

While you can travel to different countries around the world, you will surely need to learn some basic foreign languages. So you can communicate with the locals or the designers.

7. Develop soft skills

As a model, your circle of friends or list of people you know will expand enormously. You will have more model friends, designers, clients, photographers, editors that you will like. They will invite you to their exclusive parties, events and even the comforts of their homes to dine or spend time with them. Like Taylor Swift, she invited her model friends like Karlie, Lily, Ho Kelsa, Cara, and more to her house to watch movies, dine, and the like. You will develop social skills, ways of communicating, you will get people to notice you and like you for your personality.

8. New knowledge

There are many things to learn in the world of modeling, more than you can imagine. The angles of the photos, the different ways of posing, the expressions, what kind of makeup to follow, what style better, different styles of walks, learning to exercise more, eat clean and proper food and not gorge on garbage, etc.

9. Get independence

Models frequently travel in and out of the country; sometimes just a few days or, if it gets worse, a couple of weeks. They would have to learn to live without their loved ones. Your mom won’t be there to fill your tummy, your dad won’t be there to fund your needs and wants, your partner won’t be there to physically comfort you when you need it, you will miss them terribly but would still need to work. Many gained ground and independence during this time period. The models learn to prepare something delicious to satisfy their stomach, even if it means risking burning down their house because it is too cold to go out to find something to eat. They learn to wash their own clothes. Learn to look for positives in every situation you find yourself in and in many others. I would say this is one of the best things they will learn from modeling.

10. Free products and services

Yes guys, free! Don’t we love free stuff? You get free tickets to concerts, exclusive events and the biggest parties in town! On top of that, designers often give their pieces to models to keep or free makeup from sponsors.
