As a little city kid, my expectations were wild; Though tangible, conceivable, and almighty, when I lay down at night to dream, my dreams envisioned many possibilities, granting me numerous life choices to meet or exceed my goals and aspirations.
As a young adult I dared to dream, to allow myself to believe that what my mind could conceive; I could achieve – I could achieve anything with desire, focus and intention; I believed that I could weave the occasions that went far beyond my humble circumstances.
As an adult, my expectations and dreams remained untamed, wild with the desire for movement and adventure, I got my wish and traveled, on too many planes, and drove many, many miles, many times calling home where I left my boots. All trips; It almost brought me to a screeching halt, as I listened to the critical whispers and murmurs of family and friends flooding my ears; until I realized, that they only spoke from their own fears. I listened, without responding, and lovingly let them speak their minds while remaining calm and unaffected.
We have called many places home, from apartments to townhouses, even taking possession of our homes; as businessmen we traveled with ease. Coast to coast; state to state; I called everyone at home; Texas; Florida; Massachusetts, New Mexico and Oregon, knew that an international move, to a place abroad, was imminent, although with the goal of returning to Florida; my favorite state
We eventually moved into a kingdom; I knew we would, even though the day came sooner than I expected. I would finally know what it meant to be immersed, in the confusion of being true, to my own customs, ideology and identity. I was born in a big country, with many states, and suddenly I was immersed in a totally foreign way of life. I was an American, living an extended life, in a beautiful old kingdom; complete with old castles, grand palaces, cobblestone streets that were over 400 years old, and the most beautiful people you can imagine on earth. The best part is that what made them so beautiful was that they knew their whole story and stayed true to their own identity and self-worth.
I learned a lot while teaching; employed as a teacher, which was also one of my dreams; I also kept alive my dream of living in the US again and eventually returning to my favorite state: FLORIDA!
Another adventure added to my list; I am back in the United States with a privileged happiness, expanded and rooted, for having the opportunity that has been given to me to live unspeakable dreams by living and learning about diversity, while being immersed in a different culture and enjoying a new life in abroad, on another continent, on the opposite side of the Atlantic Ocean,
We are all nomads who came to settle in our current country from different regions and continents, and have learned through the tried and true art of communication and unbridled discovery how to live productively. Enjoy your life, discover something new about yourself every day! Many times, traveling was exhausting, but I pulled myself together again and again to see what new adventure life would teach me next. Everyone is so hurt and lucky; Enjoy the ride of your life…
