Some guys will never take you seriously, and it has nothing to do with you. There’s just a personality type that is incapable of showing respect for anyone, and you shouldn’t waste your time trying to get this snobbish guy to take you seriously.
However, if you have a good guy on your hands, this is how you can make sure you don’t give off the bad vibe and always maintain his respect.
Don’t get his attention the wrong way
If you’re trying to let a guy know you’re interested, don’t do it in a way that cheapens you.
Wearing skimpy clothing and brazenly talking about sex can work to get his attention, but this kind of behavior won’t earn his respect in the long run.
keep your mystery
Instead of throwing your sexuality out in the open, choose to keep your mystery and thus retain a large part of your power.
Mystery is a powerful thing, and not giving an immediate glimpse of who you are as a sexual being is not only part of being a lady, it’s a key part of keeping him interested and making sure he takes you seriously.
The mental categories of a boy
It’s not really by choice, but for some reason men tend to automatically register the women they meet and place them in a very different “category” in their brains.
This happens very quickly and your category can rarely be reversed, so make sure your first impression is a quality one and stick with it. A guy will put you into categories possibly without even knowing it; in your head you will be filed as “potential sexual partner”, “partner” or “potential girlfriend material”.
Do not tolerate disrespect
People who are highly respected and take themselves very seriously often accomplish this simply by demanding the respect they deserve.
If your guy acts like he doesn’t take you seriously, put him in his place. Stand up for yourself and be assertive. Acting weak or remorseful and/or trying to change aspects of yourself to meet his ideals is exactly the kind of behavior that will ensure he doesn’t take you seriously.
You don’t need me to take you seriously
It’s important to remember that you’ll be viewed with more reverence and taken seriously by more people in the long run (and not just the person you like), if you make an unspoken fact that you don’t need to be taken seriously.
You really don’t need anyone to take you seriously. What matters is how you see yourself. When you start living with this attitude and your sense of self flourishes, that’s what you won’t have to worry about anymore.
Judge it by the same harsh standards
You can take a hint from the demanding male mindset and judge it by the same categories and standards. Just because you’re single and in love with this guy doesn’t mean you have to dismiss his negative traits and settle for it.
It’s healthier for you and beneficial in the long run to be very picky about all potential mates, so look at him the way he probably views women, and be harsh in your judgment if your instincts lead you to do so.
You can’t control the conclusion it reaches
Remember that ultimately there will always be people who want to put you down and disrespect you. If you have been on your best behavior and have demanded respect, then there is nothing more you can do.
We only have so much control over how other people see us. The key is to be the same person and not let it get to you.
