Entertainment in Panama is top notch, and you can find it on every corner, in every alley, and at the end of every pint. For a good time, you have come to the right country. Whether it’s being scratched from the bottom of a Chivas bus at 4am, screaming your head off for one of the 12 teams in the country’s professional soccer league, or stumbling into El Café Azul at dawn; Entertainment in Panama is not in short supply and can be had at bargain prices. This country is quickly becoming a popular travel destination, like the next Costa Rica and you can find plenty of options to go out and enjoy.
Panama is very rich in culture, and finding entertainment in Panama is never very difficult. Due to the influence of the United States in the last century, many locals speak English well and therefore displays, menus and presentations are often done in English. More than 10 museums are open in the Panama City area, most of which are located in the Casco Viejo area. There is absolutely no shortage of great bars, restaurants or live music venues. On any given weekend, at least four or five venues will host a live band, so your search for entertainment in Panama shouldn’t be too difficult, especially if you like live music. Panama City is by far the most cosmopolitan city in Central America and, in fact, in entertainment and nightlife it even rivals Rio or Cancun. Stroll down Calle Uruguay and you’ll be drawn to a host of places, or head home through El Cangrejo and the same will happen. Regardless of the time, this city is alive, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If you’re looking for entertainment in Panama City and want to check out the “strip” of bars, your best bet would be to head to the Calle Uruguay area. Home to such famous bars as the Londoner, People, Sahara and Habibi’s, this district truly has something for everyone. If you’re just looking to have a drink and hang out on the patio, be sure to check out Habibi’s. If you’re trying to rage all night then don’t miss Mystic or Moods. Unplugged is a good place for live music, or if you’re doing it right, check out S6is for an album launch party, very lavish. Starlight is a great place for Karaoke, and their English/Spanish songbook has something for everyone. Other hot spots include Moods, TGIF and El Bambero.
Amador Causeway is another great nightlife and entertainment area in Panama. Perhaps the most famous strip in the country, the Amador Causeway has a lot to offer. Play is more of a club atmosphere, and Paya is more of a slow paced, laid back lounge. Two great places that cannot be missed on the road. And if you’re staying in the El Cangrejo area, stop at La Taverna 21 for a Spanish-style area, or La Terraza, the original gringo bar.
However, entertainment in Panama is not limited to bars. The city’s rich culture brings many famous musical acts to the city, including Kenny G, Sean Paul, Don Omar, and many others. The Figali Center, the National Theater, the Atlapa Convention Center and Anayansi are some of the many great venues for events. Live theater performances are another way to find entertainment in Panama, including The Theater Guild of Ancon and Teatro La Quadra. Plays and performances are often presented in English, so if you don’t speak much Spanish, you won’t have a problem.
