Baby Boomers: Conquering the Battle of the Bulge

Are you ready to start checking off that wish list yet?

I asked myself that question last year when I made my list. I realized that one of the things I had to do first was to get healthier and fitter so that I could do the things that I wanted to do on that list. I didn’t want to see the world and not have the energy to participate in the activities that interest me.

For one, I intend to see the pyramids and I figure I’ll be doing a lot of walking for that. Not to mention climbing, diving, building and creating. Oh, I have big plans.

My Strategies for a Healthier New Year

I made the decision to go vegan last year. It was mostly an ethical reason, but the health benefits were certainly worth the effort to do as much research as I could to help me make the transition from being a pescatarian. I knew cutting dairy and fish out of my diet was something I had wanted to do for a long time, but I put it off because it involved self-employment and some life-changing decisions I wasn’t ready to make yet. everything happens in due time I have learned.

Eliminating the foods I didn’t want to eat was the first step, so I didn’t keep them at home. But I also replaced with healthier food options that were not only good for me, but I also enjoyed and would satisfy my cravings. And yes, there is delicious vegan ice cream among other delicacies that are suitable for vegans.

I eat a lot of organic whole foods, fruits, vegetables, brown rice and greens. I did not find this difficult at all as I enjoy this type of food. I drink mainly purified water. I am stretching and staying flexible with yoga, walking on my treadmill when the weather outside did not allow it, helped me maintain a good exercise regimen during the winter months. Gardening by itself is great exercise in the summer, but I also hula hoop. It’s super fun and looks and feels lovely just doing it.

They give me 8 hours, more if my body wants to sleep. A plant-based diet is a good way to balance your circadian rhythm. I am never depressed and feel that my self love and mindfulness have contributed to my overwhelming happiness.

I have also lost two pounds a month just by interim fasting. For example, I will stop eating at 7:00 PM and not break my fast until 11:00 AM. break it needs.

Feeding your mind and giving yourself alone time to be is just as important.

Expressing my gratitude and meditating at the beginning of each day keeps me focused and my head in the right place. Being vegan and working out keeps me balanced and in control of my body to stay in shape.
